Introduction
Bloodspoor: Most
Americans consider Symphony of the Night the greatest of all Castlevania games,
but the Japanese have known for a long time, something most of us haven't...
Wolfdogg: I've always preferred Dracula's Curse and Bloodlines, myself.
Bloodspoor: Coupling the great level design of
Castlevania III with a bit of the exploration of Symphony, Rondo of Blood
brings us one of the best showings in Castlevania history.
Wolfdogg: Yes, while most people scoff at the
idea of a linear, stage-based Castlevania
having the twists, turns and easter eggs most people associated with the series
since SotN...
Bloodspoor: This PSP reworking of the original
content serves as the main dish in this three-course meal of fantastic gaming.
Backstory
Bloodspoor: "I got a great idea - Let's
raise Dracula from the dead!"
"Hey, man...you really think that's a good idea?"
"Sure! What's the worst that could happen?"
Wolfdogg: Oh c'mon...at least this time they
didn't use Death as the penultimate boss. They used Shaft. HE'S ONE BAD MOTHA-
Bloodspoor: Actually, I found the story in
this game, and thus SotN’s, to be one of the most detailed and gothic stories
of the CV history.
Wolfdogg: Didn't Drac try to revive himself and
Alucard's mom in that one? NECROPHILIA
+10
Wolfdogg: Anyway, long, long ago...back in the
far-flung year of 1792...the evil Vampire known as Dracula has once again
risen. So, once again, a Belmont
has to step up to the plate and save the day. This time, it's Simon's descendant...Richter
Belmont, once again armed with the legendary whip, the Vampire Killer.
Bloodspoor: Yes...because whips kill the
undead.
Wolfdogg: Magic whips powered by the soul of a Belmont's lover-turned-Vampire.
...I hate Lament of Innocence.
Bloodspoor: Yeah...I wish they just went with
the Legends story build instead.
Wolfdogg: Agreed. Sure, that game was lame...but
at least it had a good story...even if it did mess some things up. I mean, Alucard
is Trevor's dad? WTF.
Bloodspoor: It didn't really. That was great.
Wolfdogg: Seriously, that Sonia Belmont was
badass. She kicked Drac's ass while pregnant. Lousy IGA's misogyny. *shakes fist*
Bloodspoor: She
was fierce. Anyway, I love this game's story...and I love how it's presented in
the remake.
Wolfdogg: I love the fact that Shaft just happened to kidnap Annette to be Drac's
bride.
Bloodspoor: Wait...what about Annette? I don't know about
her deal. Rather, I don't remember.
